Choosing a minor is strongly encouraged even though it is optional. You may not take a major and minor in the same area and may not receive a dual minor. The number of credits required to complete an academic minor varies according to academic program. For a listing of all the requirements for the bachelor's degree, refer to your major and general education requirements.
Common Requirements for Completing a Minor
- At least half the credits you earn within the minor must be upper level (numbered 300 or above) unless otherwise specified and must be earned through UMGC.
- No grade may be lower than a C in the coursework for the minor.
- Courses already applied toward other degree requirements (e.g. major or general education) may not be applied toward the minor.
- Prerequisites apply for all courses.
