About the Associate of Arts in General Studies

In this 60-credit associate degree program, you’ll complete 35 general education credits. For the remaining 25 credits, you will need to take elective courses related to your interests and educational goals. Of these 25 credits, you must take 4 credits of required core courses. The remaining 21 credits may be chosen from any eligible courses of interest, provided you have met the course prerequisites. Be sure to review our focused elective options if you need additional guidance. If you anticipate seeking a bachelor's degree, you should select courses that will advance that goal.

  • Please note: If you select to follow one of the suggested focused elective areas, any transfer credit you have earned that does not transfer as a general education requirement will be used in the focused elective area thus possibly reducing the number of specific focused courses that will be available for your degree plan.
