This online master’s concentration is designed to help you gain the skills you need to become an effective project manager in your organization. During this 36-credit program, you’ll learn how to manage teams, track projects, and integrate the latest industry knowledge. You’ll take an intensive array of pure project management courses that focus on risk management, project cost, communication, and more. You will also prepare to sit for several relevant industry certification exams.

General Master's Degree Requirements
- You must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher at all times.
- All degree requirements must be fulfilled within five consecutive years.
- Any transfer credits must have been earned within the above five-year time frame to be applied toward a graduate degree.
- Please review the overall master’s degree requirements for additional considerations.
Course Progression & Prerequisites
- (6 Credits, MGMT 630) or (3 Credits, MGMT 610) must be taken within the first 6 credits.
- (3 Credits, MGMT 610) and (3 Credits, MGMT 615) may be taken instead of (6 Credits, MGMT 630).
- (3 Credits, MGMT 640) should not be attempted simultaneously with (3 Credits, MGMT 650).
- You must complete 24 credits of program coursework, including all core courses, before enrolling in (3 Credits, MGMT 670).
- (3 Credits, PMAN 634) is prerequisite to all other PMAN courses and must be taken as the first specialization course.
- (3 Credits, MGMT 640) (or an approved course in finance) and (3 Credits, MGMT 650) (or an approved course in statistics) must be taken before (3 Credits, PMAN 635).
- (3 Credits, PMAN 635) must be taken before (3 Credits, PMAN 637), (3 Credits, PMAN 639), and (3 Credits, PMAN 650).
Earn a Dual Master's with MBA/Marketing
If you earn an MBA from UMGC, you may be able to earn a second master’s degree in management with a specialization in marketing and save up to 12 credits through our dual degree option. You must start the second degree program within two years of completing the MBA.
To complete the second degree, you must complete all specialization courses and (3 Credits, MGMT 670).

Completing any project management course in this program earns you the project management education hours required to sit for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® Credential Examination or the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Exam. If you are already certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute and your certification is current and valid, you may receive credit for (3 Credits, PMAN 634).
