Career Preparation

This program is designed to help prepare students with military experience for senior leadership positions in public, private, and nonprofit organizations in various fields. Potential job titles include logistics manager, director, purchasing supervisor, watch officer, network operations manager, and change manager. UMGC’s experienced faculty help students build skills and competencies that today’s employer’s value.

Experience Recommended for Success in the Program

You are expected to have leadership experience from serving as an officer (noncommissioned or commissioned) in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Strong writing skills are encouraged in this program.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, you must meet the standard criteria for graduate admission and belong to one of the following military populations:

  • Full-time active-duty servicemembers
  • Members of the National Guard
  • Reservists
  • Veterans
  • Commissioned Corps members of the U.S. Public Health Service
  • Commissioned Corps members of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

You are responsible for providing the documentation necessary to verify your military status.

Career Preparation

This MBA program is designed to help you prepare for management careers in business, government, or nonprofit organizations in areas such as team leadership, project supervision, and creation and implementation of business solutions.

Experience Recommended for Success in the Program

We recommend you have strong writing and analytical skills. We recommend ASC 601 if you'd like to improve your graduate writing skills. If you need to improve your computing skills, we recommend you take ASC 605.

Admission Requirements

The MBA degree program requires 36 credits of coursework. Courses must be taken sequentially. An introductory course (PRO 600) may be waived for students who already have a graduate degree. You must complete each course with a grade of B or better to advance to the next course. The grade of C is not available for these courses.

Specialized Program Accreditation

This program has received specialized accreditation through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, known as IACBE, located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas. IACBE is a specialized accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Further information on student achievement is available in the Public Disclosure of Student Achievement.
