The certificate program in applied social sciences at University of Maryland Global Campus helps prepare you to apply social science tools and concepts to practical problems. The program helps equip you with updated knowledge and skills for identifying and solving social problems in communities, families, and the workplace. You’ll develop a deep understanding of social science concepts and learn to identify stakeholders, apply expert knowledge, communicate evidence, and present and defend solutions to relevant parties.
- Apply knowledge: Apply advanced social science knowledge, tools, and concepts to practical problems.
- Present solutions: Identify stakeholders, communicate evidence, and present and defend your solutions.
- Examine aging: Examine how different cultures interpret and address aging and the life cycle.
- Develop your skills: Develop skills in identifying and solving social problems in communities, families, and the workplace.
- Apply research: Apply sociological perspectives and research to analyze processes.
- Study public health: Apply the perspectives of medical anthropology to promote individual and public health.
