UMGC data analytics students recently finished in first place in the Data Presentation category of the 2023 Curiosity Cup, a global student competition organized by SAS.

You must meet the criteria for graduate admission at UMGC and also provide one of the following items (reflecting course completion or industry certification):

  • An official transcript reflecting completion of courses at the 200-level or higher in statistics and computer programming from a regionally accredited college or university (credit from other accredited institutions may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Proof of industry certification, such as IBM certification in Cognos, Risk Analytics, SPSS, SAS certification, Microsoft certification, Certified Analytics Professional, Certified Business Intelligence Professional, or Certified Health Data Analyst

  • Required Capstone Course: 3
  • Elective Courses: 12

General Master's Degree Requirements

  • You must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher at all times.
  • All degree requirements must be fulfilled within five consecutive years.
  • Any transfer credits must have been earned within the above five-year time frame to be applied toward a graduate degree.

UMGC’s online data analytics degree is designed to help students learn data and AI techniques, manage and manipulate data, create visualizations, build predictive models, and make strategic data and AI-driven recommendations to influence business outcomes. Our program is designed to help students develop knowledge in emerging areas like AI, data mining, and data management; gain experience in programming languages like SQL and Python; and work in software like Tableau and SAS.
