UMGC Europe Book Club Presents: The Paris Library Author: Janet Skeslien

Through parallel timelines separated by 44 years, this historical fiction is based on the true story of the librarians of the American Library in Paris during WWII. The novel explores the love of literature from two perspectives: the first from one of those heroic librarians in Paris during the Nazi occupation of WWII, and the second from a teen who discovers her story. Odile is a librarian in war-torn Paris who unites her fellow librarians to join the Resistance and use the power of words to unite people during a time when violence and war are rampant. Her story is eventually uncovered by Lily, a teenager in 1983 Montana who is inspired by Odile’s lessons of humanity, courage, and friendship many miles and decades later.
