When a Story Becomes Art: Transforming Memoir and Research into Publishable Fiction
Workshop Synopsis: Do you have a story to tell, but aren’t sure how to tell it? This workshop will help you move beyond an idea or early draft and develop your writing into a compelling work of art. Together, we’ll explore how to weave research into memoir and fiction, and we'll consider pathways to publication. Bring a notebook, laptop, or any other device that helps you write; this is a hands-on session.
About the presenter: Nicole Malyj Daone writes historical fiction, poetry, and memoir. Her work often blends research and personal history to explore the themes of resilience, memory, and meaning. In addition to writing, Nicole is a yoga and group fitness instructor who delights in meandering walks, cooking, traveling, and life on the coast of Virginia with her husband, two sons, and their dog. You can find her published work and connect with her at nicolemalyjdaone.wordpress.com.
