My teaching philosophy is centered around creating an inclusive and collaborative learning environment, where both students and instructor learn together. I strive to encourage a culture of intellectual curiosity, where diverse perspectives are valued and respected. Through this approach, I empower students to become active learners, thinkers, and problem-solvers, rather than mere recipients of information.
I have over 20 years’ experience in the Federal Government working various positions in many different locations. I also have 10 years of duty as an Army infantry soldier with two combat tours. I married my high school sweetheart Ann; we have been together for over 30 years. Our two children (Makenzie and Josua) are grown with their own families (4 grandchildren). I have been to Germany 3 times before (Friedberg, Baumholder, Stuttgart) and am a first generation American with both parents coming from Germany.
Professionally, I have served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Maryland Global Campus before conducting classes in Political Science, International Relations, and Philosophy/Ethics in Stuttgart. I have been able to develop my academic background while working full-time as a Government Employee (Dept. of the Army) and raising a family which gives me an empathetic insight to the work/life balance necessary for the success of the students. I look forward to supporting those seeking their education.
