Teaching should be creative chaos, foster innovation, and break from the standardization that has been our students' norm since age 5. Five-year-olds have genius-level creativity and can imagine hundreds of uses for a paper clip. We drive all that genius out of them with our standardized formulaic education. https://genuinecontact.net/paperclips-creativity/ Dr. Malcolm Magee considers this to be his teaching philosophy and it his job to give that creativity back to his UMGC Europe students.

Dr. Magee earned his Ph.D. in international history, philosophy, and American religious history from Michigan State University. Since then, he has pursued specialty areas, including progressive-era politics, Russian and East European history, and 19th-century political thought. After attending Michigan State, he was privileged to teach at various universities, most notably UMGC Europe.

Dr. Magee has written and reviewed multiple books and publications and taught globally, from Michigan to the Czech Republic. Since joining UMGC in 2018, he has taught first in the Kaiserslautern Military Community, and later, in 2019, he moved to Aviano and Vicenza, Italy, where he currently teaches and explores Northern Italy with his wife, family, and friends.
