Dr. Jessica Stock has taught for UMGC since 2015, joining the university full time in 2018 to teach English and literature. A gifted instructor, she is the proud recipient of the 2021 Bylee Massey Memorial Award and received the university’s highest award for teaching - the Stanley J. Drazek Teaching Excellence Award - in 2023.
As the advisor for UMGC's unique field study programs, she creates unique learning experiences and supports the faculty who deliver them.
Since 2017, she has been an active member of the UMGC Europe Diversity Council, promoting inclusivity and diversity through reading. Dr. Stock also founded and directs the UMGC Book Club, a bi-monthly meeting where members of the UMGC Europe community read and discuss intersectional literature as an access point to cultural diversity and empathy, the UMGC Europe Book Club, which meets online and boasts more than 200 members and provides a reliable and safe community for readers to discuss challenging narratives. Her leadership led to an invitation to write a bimonthly literature column for Stars and Stripes.
Subject matter expert in literature, writing, and race and ethnicity studies. Dr. Stock is an avid traveler with experience shaping study abroad curriculum, and a dedication for learning in global contexts.
