Prior to joining UMGC Europe in 1995, Dr. Gordon Leitch earned his PhD from Tulane University. His studies focused broadly upon the evaluation of (economic) forecasts and were further refined into a long-term project regarding probabilistic forecasting of securities markets. In addition to UMGC Europe, he has also taught at Tulane University, Southeastern Louisiana, and the University of Portland. Over the years he has taught mostly mathematics, statistics, and economics throughout the UMGC Europe footprint in Russia, Belgium, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, UK, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE.

Dr. Leitch's teaching philosophy is that learning is an active process and students learn best from teachers who are direct and engaged, give real world examples so that students can learn-by-doing, and that focusing on practical applications tends to achieve the best results.

His hobbies include restoring and upgrading electronics devices (computers, disc players), practical linguistics, and travel. He has been slightly above the Arctic Circle (on land, not counting air travel).
