Dr. Eva Pagoulatos was born in the United States and raised in Greece. She completed her undergraduate degree at the American College of Greece in Athens, Greece, and earned her PsyD in clinical psychology from Carlos Albizu University-Miami Campus in Florida. Since joining UMGC in August of 2021, Dr. Pagoulatos has taught in Bavaria; mainly in Vilseck & Grafenwoehr and occasionally in Hohenfels & Ansbach. Prior to joining UMGC, she taught for Southern New Hampshire University, Miami Dade College, and Carlos Albizu University-Miami Campus.
Psychology has always been her passion, as she strongly believes in the mind-body connection and has had the good fortune of working with diverse populations in a variety of contexts. As a licensed clinical psychologist her specialty is conducting psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, and she has had the pleasure of working with individuals ranging from children to geriatrics.
In teaching, she believes students should take an active approach to their learning. This belief stems from her personal experience as a former student and a lifelong learner, that students choose to pursue a college education, and in doing so choose what they wish to study. She wants her students to be curious. Dr. Pagoulatos tries to cultivate independent thinking through the understanding of knowledge as a series of interrelated concepts, rather than isolated facts, that can be tied together to create a larger picture. She does this by giving them opportunities to read and/or watch relevant, current material provided by highly respected members of the field as well as incorporating, when necessary, relevant in-class activities that she and her students can review together. Dr. Pagoulatos also likes to encourage her students to share their knowledge and points of view with their fellow classmates through dialogues and individualized feedback and encourages them to ask questions and seek out answers.
