Hello! I’ve been with UMGC since 1998, teaching in Germany and a handful of other countries in Europe.
If we’re in class together, you may notice my Rhode Island accent, although I haven’t lived there for many years. I studied Communication and Law, living and working in Washington, D.C. for 10 years before moving to Germany. I’ve served on editorial boards of two law journals and truly love to work with students on improving their writing, so please reach out if I can assist—whether I have you in class or not!
My goal in the classroom is to create a challenging, engaging, and relevant learning environment where all students feel valued and supported. Beyond gaining a deeper understanding of the course subject matter, if you take one of my classes I hope you leave with better analytical reasoning skills and an increased curiosity for knowledge and learning in general. And if in the process we can have a laugh now and then, all the better!
My interests outside of class include genealogy and family history (my own and anyone else’s!), travel, design, documentary photography (Lewis Hine), art (Modigliani), and ceramics (Asian). Happy place: my pottery studio."
