As a potter, pilgrim, veteran, writer, and professor, I examine life through the lenses of art, nature, travel, adventure, and family. Following two long decades of service in the Army and Coast Guard, I find that my military experiences deeply inform my commitments to resilience, lifelong learning, and supporting those who serve.
My pursuit of lifelong learning helps me craft an interdisciplinary approach exploring how knowledge is created, shared, and transformed within organizations and communities. And my love of long-distance wandering affords the time for reflection and contemplation required to convert what I discover into a teaching philosophy.
I am particularly passionate about how structured systems and human stories intersect—whether in leadership development, learning design, or creative expression.
When I'm not in the classroom or drafting a new book, you can find me on the trail with a rucksack on my back and a peaceful smile on my face.
