Dr. Brian East joined UMGC in 2014, teaching in the Asia division in locations within Korea and Okinawa. He then transferred to the Europe division in 2017, and since then has taught in Stuttgart, Bavaria, and within the Kaiserslautern Military Community. Prior to Dr. East’s time with UMGC, he taught for Georgia Gwinnett College and Auburn University.

Dr. East’s scholarly background is in 20th Century Anglophone poetry, learning design and technology, and 20th Century British culture. In the classroom, he stresses the importance of developing a writing process that demonstrates critical thinking.

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. East and enjoys traveling with his family and playing the guitar. According to his two children, he has also mastered the fine art of telling lame dad jokes.
