I was born in Touba Mourit, a small village in The Gambia, West Africa. Since 2012, I have been part of the University of Maryland Global Campus community, first as a student and now as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science. My teaching philosophy is straightforward: students always come first. I work to create a classroom where every student feels valued, respected, and supported.
Above all, my goal is to help them reach their full potential by building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and strengthening their ability to think critically.
Outside the classroom, stay committed to community service, especially through grassroots initiatives. One of my most rewarding experiences has been working with advocacy groups in Petersburg,
Virginia, on city beautification and public health projects. In my quiet hours, I retreat into the world of classical literature, finding inspiration in the works of Dostoevsky, Achebe, Baldwin, Camus, Shakespeare, Soyinka, and Tolstoy.
