I am an interdisciplinary translational scientist with a background in microbiology, biotechnology, natural product research, public and mental health, and psychiatric genetics. My research spans from fundamental biological inquiry to applied studies that inform healthcare, sustainability, and policy. Currently, my PhD work focuses on the role of stress in the onset and progression of severe mental illnesses, particularly bipolar disorder, integrating molecular biology, clinical data analysis, and computational biology/bioinformatics.
At UMGC, I teach biology and nutrition courses. At Poznan University of Medical Sciences, I teach behavioural sciences seminars on sleeping and eating disorders for medical students, drawing on my experience in both research and teaching. My teaching journey began in 2014, initially teaching modern dance and later basic science and civic education.
My teaching philosophy emphasises mutual feedback and active engagement. I encourage students to develop independent, evidence-based thinking, and I use real-world examples, visual aids, and technology to connect abstract concepts to everyday life and support various learning styles.
Outside academia, I enjoy travelling, playing acoustic guitar, songwriting, and exploring film and documentaries. I’m passionate about connecting with people and believe in the value of open, meaningful conversations. I am free-spirited, affable, and a joy to be around.
