Professor Michael Beasley has been teaching with UMGC Europe since 2011, in addition to working as a Senior Program Coordinator in the Naples, Italy field office beginning in 1995. He recently retired from the office position (2022), but continues to instruct students in Naples. Prior to Naples, he worked in outdoor therapeutic programs for at-risk youth, and served as a counselor in various programs elsewhere. As a constant volunteer with youth sports activities and school events, he gained an even deeper appreciation of our youth in the US and overseas.
In the classroom, Professor Beasley strives to treat each student as a unique individual, giving each of them his respect and attention. As he teaches, he wants to help students achieve their academic goals—giving them the guidance and support that will enable them to be successful. Paramount to this is to teach the subject matter at hand, while challenging each student to think critically during various class discussions and activities.
Professor Beasley was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Yorktown, Virginia, with stints in North Carolina and Kentucky, as well as many years in Italy. In his free time, he enjoys his garden, growing organic vegetables and travelling to visit children and grandchildren. Anyone who has lived in Italy knows, that you can never go wrong with good food, abundant riches.
