I’ve been with UMGC Europe since 2020, teaching Biology and Nutrition courses in Sigonella, Italy. I completed my MS in Pharmacy at the Università degli Studi di Catania in Italy, followed by an MS in chemistry and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). During my time at UMSL, I carried out research focused on developing and characterizing novel antiviral agents, and I took my first steps into teaching, serving as a teaching assistant for various chemistry labs. I then moved to the research department of Bayer (formerly Monsanto), working as an analytical chemist before eventually returning to Italy.
My goal in the classroom is to instill curiosity for the subject, even among non-science majors, and enable students to use science-based information to make everyday decisions. I recognize that each student is unique, and I strive to understand their background, interests, and academic goals, to better involve and motivate them. I’m passionate about the subject I teach and I enjoy learning more about the ever-evolving field of nutrition and health science through stimulating conversations with students.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, baking cakes with my two little ones, and spending time with my friends and family.
