Greetings! In 2026, I joined UMGC to teach History. In 2014, I received my Ph.D. with concentrations that include Native American history, African American history, Globalization, and Economics.
I always say you can use History skills in any career, and I try living that ideal. I do traditional history, of course. I was a professor heading the History and Interdisciplinary-Studies programs at a US university, and my work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. However, I also used my history skills as a “show business” producer and historical consultant, collaborating with people including Native American activist Russel Means and Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, on productions from the US to Argentina. I also used history research to support legal land claims for the Seneca Nation of Indians.
My teaching goals include helping learners build the critical thinking, research, and evidence-based argument skills of historians that help assure success in any profession.
Recently, an opportunity for my wife in Belgium allowed us to move to Europe and show our three children the world. As many at UGMC can likely relate, balancing working, moving, and family can be a challenge, but it has reminded me ever more that, working together, anything is possible.
