My teaching philosophy centers on engagement, relatability, and candor. I seek to help students engage with and master concepts, while emphasizing individual course alignment with career, academic, or personal growth goals. I appreciate the numerous ways higher education fits within individual students' lives and plans, as well as the constitutive learning and pride of accomplishment the pursuit of higher education brings. With this respect for the student perspective, in the classroom I let my passion for the subject matter clearly show and seek to build that passion among students.
I am a longtime federal employee, with diverse professional experience across several agencies, stateside and OCONUS. My background includes electrical engineering, program and manpower management, contract administration, federal grant management, and transportation program oversight. The relevance of my education to my professional endeavors is always close at hand. And the curiosity about the world education has instilled in me helps drive my commitment to students and higher education.
Whenever possible, I enjoy travel to out-of-the-way places with my wife and two kids. I'm an avid reader, a marathon runner, and occasional cyclist.
