I have been teaching for UMGC, former UMUC, since 1992 when I moved from Comiso Air Force Base to Sigonella Naval Air Station. Since then I have been teaching my courses continuously.
On a positive side, I have taught languages and literatures for the Italian Ministry of Education in both Classical and Scientific Lyceums for over 35 years.
My teaching goals reside upon the foundation of wonder, critical thinking and creativity. I strive to teach critical connectivity, multiple perspectives, while encouraging students to share their voices by interacting to build wide levels of understanding. I hope to cultivate the power of wonder which leads to an openness, respect and ethical thinking. Where critical thinking joins creativity, my goal is to foster the love for life-long learning and applied social justice.
Steeped in history arts and humanities, my teaching philosophy seeks to develop thoughtful and engaged citizens, through the richness of our diverse global community in an ever-changing world.
As it regards my personal interests I love making long walks in the woods very early in the morning, reading and spending time with my family and friends. Love cooking the delicious Sicilian food using old traditional recipes.
