Kaiserslautern Ceremony

UMGC remains focused on the health and safety of its students, employees, alumni, and guests. Due to the current coronavirus situation, we have decided to postpone Commencement 2020 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, originally scheduled for 2 May. Additional information regarding the new date for the ceremony will be shared at a later time. Any questions regarding the postponement should be directed to commencement-europe@umgc.edu.

UMGC Europe will hold its 68th annual commencement exercises on 2 May at 1400 at the Gartenschau in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The ceremony honors more than 1,100 graduates from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa who have earned an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree with University of Maryland Global Campus and a bachelor's or master's degree with Salisbury University.

Student Check-In (0900-1130)

Student check-in is mandatory. Please check-in no later than 1130.

At check-in, you will receive the tickets for your guests to attend the ceremony.

Event Hall Opens (1200)

The event hall will open for guest seating.

Line-up (1230)

All graduates will gather for the line-up and final roll call. Please follow the signs and gather in the areas designated for your degree. Guests may not accompany graduates to the line-up. Graduates are not permitted to have items in their hands (purses, cameras, etc.) when they line up. Please make sure to leave all personal items in your car or with a guest before joining the line-up.

Pre-processional (1355)

The student marshals will lead graduates to prepare for the processional.

Processional (1400)

The processional begins. The graduates march in first, followed by UMGC Europe faculty and officials.

Live Streaming (1400)

Your family and friends can watch you graduate from anywhere in the world using our high-definition live streaming link or on Facebook Live. We invite everyone to tune in at 1400 CET to see their favorite graduate cross the stage.

Special note: Access to the Internet from the event location may be limited, so you may experience some technical difficulties while watching the live stream of the ceremony. We are very sorry if this does occur and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Post-Commencement Reception

All graduates and guests are invited to the reception immediately following the ceremony. A light buffet and non-alcoholic refreshmants will be provided at the venue.

Location and Parking

All events on Saturday will take place at the Gartenschau. Public parking is available directly adjacent to this facility and in a parking lots nearby.
