Diversity at UMGC

Join a university where cultural differences are recognized, valued, and considered essential to the education process and working environment.

The Overseas Diversity and Equity unit assist members of the university community in addressing discrimination, sexual misconduct, and accessibility issues that may interfere with their ability to participate in university programs and activities, learn, perform work, and provide services at UMGC. The unit drives UMGC's commitment to foster diverse and inclusive working and learning environments. Our unit also offers diversity and compliance training so that the UMGC community will have the skills and insights necessary to promote engagement, inclusion, productivity, and professionalism.

Serving as the point of contact for matters related to EEO and Title IX Sexual Misconduct, the unit offers employees and supervisors guidance and training to address workplace conflicts, employee grievances, and other personnel issues that could negatively affect the work environment or job performance. It is also responsible for developing training programs for faculty, staff, and students in areas of workplace diversity, cross-cultural competency and communication, and sexual harassment. In establishing a learning environment that is educational, interactive, informative, and experiential, the unit ensures that the diversity mission and the university's core values are present throughout the organization.
